WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman has spoken after criticism was levelled at Tyson Fury for taking his upcoming fight against Francis Ngannou
Tyson Fury has been told that he can continue as WBC heavyweight champion despite taking part in his upcoming 'crossover' fight against UFC star Francis Ngannou.
Fury and Usyk failed to agree terms on a fight, with the Gypsy King instead electing to take on Ngannou as his next opponent. Sulaiman spoke to Gambling.com to reveal how the fight came about and opened up on the Usyk talks. Sulaiman also emphasised the right of his governing body to determine the destiny of their world title belts, saying that Fury deserved to retain the crown. However, he would not give a definitive answer on its future, revealing that the WBC congress in November would be the crucial date in determining who the next challenger would be.
