Watch live: Tornado watch in affect for most of North Texas; some areas under warnings txwx
The tornado watch was issued for several North Texas counties, including Dallas, Tarrant, Denton and Collin, and was due to expire around 11 a.m. The advisory warned of isolated and damaging winds with gusts reaching 70 mph and hail up to two inches.
In some areas north and west of Tarrant County, the tornado watch was upgraded to a tornado warning. Those areas included the community of Huckabay in Erath County, Agnes in Parker County and the cities of Paradise and Decatur in Wise County, according to the weather service. The warning extended into the northern Tarrant County cities of Keller and Saginaw about 7:35 a.m., with the warning due to expire at 8:15.
The service tweeted that radar confirmed a tornado in Parker County about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday. Twenty minutes later, the weather service urged those in neighboring Wise County to take shelter. A Tornado Watch is in effect through 11 AM for portions of North Texas. Stay weather aware during the morning commute and have a plan if a warning is issued in your area!
