The reaction to Deshaun Watson was a very positive one in Berea on Saturday.
BEREA, Ohio — Deshaun Watson walked off the practice field in his socks Saturday to a chorus of cheers and chants of his name from fans on the first day of Browns training camp open to the public.
He left in his socks because he played gave his cleats to two young fans standing in line for an autograph played him in rock, paper, scissors for the famous shoes. Watson won both games, but gave up the cleats anyway. First, Tanner Hall, 10, of Alliance, Ohio, tried his hand at the game, and Watson -- feeling generous -- removed a cleat, autographed it and handed it to him. Hall thanked him and posed for a photo with Watson, holding his new shoe.“You want the other cleat?’’ Watson asked. “You’ve got to win now.’’Watson then made his way down the autograph line, signing helmets and shirts, and posing for photos with fans.
When he turned to walk away, he gave a wave and was enthusiastically cheered by the hundreds of fans who stuck around after practice to catch a glimpse of him and other players such as Perrion Winfrey, who also signed autographs.
