It's Alfa Romeo F1 launch day!
Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu line-up once again for the Swiss outfit in what will be their final season with the Alfa Romeo branding. Sauber have agreed a deal to become Audi’s works team from 2026 onwards with the Alfa sponsorship of the team set to end in 2023.
Having started strongly in 2022, one of the big aims for the new car will be to improve reliability with the team suffering 12 retirements last season, the most of any team on the grid. For Zhou, it is a pivotal year with Sauber waiting until late on to extend the contract of 2022’s sole rookie. Bottas meanwhile is enjoying the freedom of the first multi-year deal of his career, but even he has some doubt over his long-term future with Audi yet to reveal who they would prefer as their drivers.
