It’s not every day that you see a swimming deer, but that’s exactly what a nature organization saw last week while on Alabama’s Gulf Coast. A group with The Nature Conservancy was out in Mobile Bay gathering data when they saw the deer swimming about a half mile or so offshore. “She was bounding through the 1- to 2-feet-deep water at a good pace,” Marine Program Director Judy HanerHaner, along with several others, were surprised to see the deer so far out in the water. It was unusual for everybody involved, including Rebekah Farmer, an intern new to the program who filmed the entire experience.Haner cited safety concerns if the deer managed to get into the boat by accident.
