We are fairly sure — we can't know for sure without being fortune tellers, but most of them align — there will be a fairly steep drop off compared to that day one interest, and we want to make sure because of how important community is in Classic in particular, that we have healthy server populations.
There will be that many people and more in every Northshire Abbey and Valley of Trials on Monday. We're not trying to make that better. We're trying to fit even more people into the server without making it utterly untenable. Because you were all in the same world as each other, you're never going to experience walking across the zone boundary and seeing people around you vanish or seeing spawns move around. Indeed, the only way to switch layers is to accept a party invite from somebody else who's on different layer. And once you move, that's your new layer and you're going to stay there for the rest of your gameplay session.
Even on the most crowded servers, you didn't have literally everyone logging in that first second. We expect we are going to have thousands and thousands and thousands of people per server trying to log in in that initial second and that really requires much more aggressive layering that we can then back away from.Hazzikostas:
But for various reasons, whether it's because your favorite streamer is on a specific server or any kind of higher community like a subReddit or the like decided to all pick a single server to focus on, there are some servers that are simply full well, well beyond the capacity we'll be able to support.
