Walmart Inc. WMT, -1.98% said overnight Tuesday that it will begin offering next-day delivery without a membership fee on eligible orders of $35 or more. The offer will first be available to customers in Phoenix and Las Vegas, then expand to Southern California in the coming days and roll out gradually over the coming months, with a plan to reach 75% of the U.S. population this year. The stock edged up 0.2% in premarket trade. The discount retail giant's move follows Amazon.com Inc.

Walmart launches online pet pharmacyWalmart Inc. said Tuesday that it is adding pet care services, including the launch of an online pet pharmacy that will deliver medication for pets, horses and livestock to shoppers' homes. The retail giant will also be stocking its 4,500-plus pharmacies with the 30 most-requested pet medications. Finally, Walmart is adding new pet brands on its store shelves, including more premium and health-conscious brands like Blue Buffalo and Greenies. More than two-thirds of U.S. households (68%) have a pet, according to data provided by Walmart from the American Pet Products Association. Chewy Inc., an online pet supply seller, filed for an IPO in early March. Walmart stock is up 9.5% for the year to date while the Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained 12.5% for the period.
