The Pumas come from behind to reach the last four of the World Cup
Wales were ahead 17-12 after a brilliant show-and-go try by scrum-half Tomos Williams in the 57th minute, but they then fell on the wrong side of a call by English referee Karl Dickson in conjunction with South African TMO, Marius Jonker.Wales centre Nick Tompkins took a hit on the jaw after making a tackle, and had to go off for a head injury assessment that he passed, but Dickson and Jonker ruled there was nothing illegal in the challenge by lock Guido Petti.
The let-off for Petti freed the Pumas to pile pressure on with a series of penalties kicked for line-outs and eventually Wales cracked, although even as their goalline was breached, the fly-half Dan Biggar protested furiously to Dickson they should have been given a turnover for Dillon Lewis, who had clamped hands on the ball.
Wales had been capable front runners at this tournament, only ever behind on the scoreboard for 12 minutes of their four winning pool matches against Fiji, Portugal, Australia and Georgia.
