The head of the mercenary Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, accused Russia’s most senior military officials of “treason” and attempting to destroy his militia by depriving it of ammunition

in eastern Ukraine for several months, was even being deprived of shovels for digging trenches with the deliberate intention of “destroying Wagner”.

Fellow battlefield commanders were breaking military laws to supply Wagner, said Mr Prigozhin, who cited personal issues with senior defence ministry officials. He did not name the alleged saboteurs but said he had no issues when General Sergei Surovikin was leading the campaign in Ukraine,Mr Prigozhin’s outbursts have been widely interpreted as attacks on leaders such as Russian defence minister, Sergei Shoigu

The complaints come amid indications that the militia is being sidelined to some degree having served as the vanguard of Russia’s invasion force in the Donbas region.
