April Rice led the way Wednesday night as Lemont rallied for a wild 22-25, 25-23, 25-15 nonconference victory over visiting Providence.
Rice, a 5-foot-11 setter/right-side hitter, kept her cool when Lemont, already down one game, was behind 20-12 in the second.
“I was pretty stressed out, but I had hope,” Rice said. “Usually, this team comes back. We’re confident. When we’re down, we’re the type of team to push back with points. O’Donnell was a pretty cool customer herself during the wild comeback. One of her kills was from the back row. She had two others that left no doubt.
“Every time I went up to hit, it was just trying to get a point. I didn’t care if it was a hard hit or a roll. A kill is a kill.”
