Village Fire Department’s major renovation process was completed earlier this month
The renovation process at the Village Fire Department's station increased the size of the kitchen and common areaEarlier this month, the major renovation project for the Village Fire Department building was completed.
The building was expanded by moving the front of the station, the truck bay where the fire engines are parked, closer to the street. Village Fire Department Chief David Foster explained that, when the station was first built around 1970, there were six firefighters on duty at a time, whereas now that number is at least ten.The renovation project also changed the sleeping quarters from one common room to individual rooms and from one large common bathroom to individual bathrooms.
Technological changes at the station include increased automation of the dispatch system, the voice of which the firefighters call “Samantha,” doors to get to the firetrucks that open automatically, and lights that turn on more subtly when a call comes in when a firefighter is sleeping.
