The Minnesota Vikings made the least-surprisingly move this offseason: They reportedly exercised wide receiver Justin Jefferson's fifth-year option, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The deal will likely be worth around $19.7 million in 2024, according to Over The Cap.
Jefferson is coming off a season where he led the NFL with 128 catches for 1,809 yards andWhile he was the fourth of five first-round receivers taken in 2020, Jefferson quickly proved he was the best of the bunch. The Vikings took him 22nd over in 2020 — after the Denver Broncos' Jerry Jeudy, the Dallas Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Raegar .
It stands to reason Jefferson could push for at least that number after only three seasons, especially since Perhaps the next big contract after Jefferson, though, is the one for his ex-LSU teammate, Ja'Marr Chase. The Bengals took Chase fifth overall in 2021 to pair with Joe Burow, who played with Chase and Jefferson in college, so the Bengals won't have to make a decision on his fifth-year option — and/or a subsequent long-term deal — until after the 2023 season. But in just two seasons Chaseand tied for the second-most touchdowns over that span.
