Marine vet Camron Carter, seriously wounded on Feb. 14, 1968, will be among those honored at a Sunday afternoon program in Yorkville.

Like so many veterans interviewed over the years, Camron Carter is as grateful as he is humble. The 74-year-old Yorkville man probably should have died Feb. 14, 1968, on the battlefield of what is known as the Valentine’s Ridge conflict in the Vietnam War .

Six months old when her dad was killed, Lori Goss-Reaves, now a professor of social work and Indiana state representative, was featured years ago in a news article about her quest for information regarding her father’s first and final battle in Vietnam. A Purple Heart is among the medals received by Camron Carter for his service in Vietnam. The Yorkville veteran was severely wounded in the battle on Valentine's Ridge on Feb. 14, 1968.
