Michael Uriegas, 22, was charged with animal cruelty after allegedly beating his 1-year-old dog to death.A 22-year-old San Antonio man is facing an animal cruelty charge in connection with the beating death of his 1-year-old dog.According to an affidavit supporting his arrest, Uriegas told Bexar County Sheriff's investigators that his dog, named Ruger, urinated on him while he was taking him out of the kennel on March 16 at their home in the 5200 block of Snug Harbor Way in Von Ormy.
Uriegas said he then"just lost his cool" and threw his pet back into the kennel, but he noticed Ruger was"breathing weird," so he freaked out and tried to resuscitate the dog, the documents said. The affidavit said a necropsy performed by Bexar County Animal Control showed the dog was beaten prior to his death and ruled that Ruger's death was by non-accidental blunt force trauma. The dog suffered multiple fractures to his legs and a fractured skull, the affidavit said the necropsy revealed.
Ruger also had contusions on his face, neck, ears, abdomen, chest, thighs and testicles, the court documents said.
