In the video for the dance track, written and composed by Peakboy, BTS’s V is seen clad in a fittingly purple suit carrying an aquamarine-colored drink for our protagonist, Peakboy himself. Just before handing the musician the drink, V raises the cocktail glass as if making a toast and smirks at the camera.
The image immediately recalls that of Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2013 movie adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’sIn one of the movie’s most instantly recognizable scenes, DiCaprio uses an eerily similar gesture after introducing himself as Gatsby to Tobey Maguire’s Nick Carraway, the film’s narrator. The scene has also since become a popular GIF reaction and meme online.As expected, fans clocked the resemblance as soon as the video was released and took to Twitter to point it out.
