In 2019, Sprinkle was hired as Montana State’s head coach. Working at his alma mater, he won 81 games over the last four years and went to two NCAA Tournaments. This last season, Montana State lost to Kansas State 77-65 in the first round.

Sprinkle, a former Montana State guard, will be the Bobcats' new head coach. Sprinkle replaces Brian Fish, whose contract was not renewed after Montana State went 65-92 over the past five seasons. Sprinkle graduated from Helena High School and played for the Bobcats from 1995 to 1999.
Sprinkle played at Montana State from 1996-2000. After being a four-year starter in Bozeman, he built his coaching career in Los Angeles as an assistant at Cal State Northridge. Once Braswell and the Northridge staff were let go in 2013, Sprinkle moved 30 miles south to coach at Cal State Fullerton for six seasons as an assistant. He built a strong recruiting base in the Los Angeles area, that he continues to actively use.
