Thirteen more Utahns died of COVID-19 in the past week as case counts and hospitalizations throughout the state declined, state health officials reported Thursday.
Utah’s latest COVID-19 metrics show more than 3,500 new coronavirus cases in the past week, with a 24.1% decrease in seven-day average case counts and a 9.2% decrease in test positivity rates., the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is now 1,023,669.
While five sites — in Hyrum, Ogden, South Jordan, Orem and Hurricane — show increasing levels of COVID-19, 24 sites indicate levels are plateauing. Five sites show decreasing levels. The seven-day average of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 fell 1.4%, the seven-day average of COVID patients in intensive care fell 13.2% and the seven-day average of new coronavirus patients admitted to a hospital fell 5.8%.
