Military Times rates UT Arlington's veterans' outreach No. 1 in Texas and No. 4 nationally.
About 2,100 veterans, active duty, reservists or National Guard members are enrolled at UT Arlington, officials report. Another 2,900 students are children or spouses of service members.
“UT Arlington has a commitment to help students from all backgrounds gain access to the promise of higher education,” university president Jennifer Cowley said in a prepared statement. “And that’s especially true for students who have served our country in the military.” More than 300 schools participated in this year’s survey, which gauged metrics such as completion, retention, persistence and grade-point average. Military-specific resources and levels of financial aid also were considered.
“Military-connected students enrich our university,” Cowley added, “and in return, we must ensure they have the academic and financial supports, services and resources.”
