US Congress subpoena owner of 8chan as part of its probe into countering extremist content on social media platforms
8chan's popularity rose after the similarly named but unaffiliated site 4chan cracked down on more extreme posts.
"In recent years, violent extremist content has proliferated on both large and small social media platforms. At least three acts of deadly white supremacist extremist violence have been linked to 8chan in the last six months," the committee said in a statement. "I am always available to talk to you by telephone," he told the committee in an email posted on 8chan's Twitter account on August 6.
