Turkish local governor said that a team is prepared to extract the American explorer from underground.

Rescuers gather around a radio in Morca Cave, as they take part in a rescue operation to reach US caver Mark Dickey who fell ill and became trapped some 1,000 metres underground, near Anamur in Mersin province, southern Türkiye September 7, 2023 / Photo: Reuters

Mark Dickey, 40, was on an international exploration mission in the Morca Cave in Mersin province's Taurus mountains when he began suffering from gastrointestinal bleeding at a depth of 1,040 metres. "Depending on the developments at the stations in between, hopefully the evacuation will have been completed within several days," Pehlivan told reporters on Saturday.

Footage also showed other teams moving down the caves with ropes and making their way through narrow passages.
