Older iPhone users devices could currently be at risk from attacks by malicious actors
While many Apple users are enjoying the latest iPhone, users of older-generation devices are being urged to update their phones as soon as possible.
The tech giant has issued a new software update in the form of iOS16.7.1 which has been made available for the iPhone 8, iPhone X, and those released after them. The update tackles a bug in the iPhone's operating system that could give hackers the means to exploit your device. An issue was confirmed to have been discovered by Apple which was given the zero-day rating . Apple's security pages explained: "A local attacker may be able to elevate their privileges. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited against versions of iOS before iOS 16.6." The update has been made available for a range of iPhone and iPad models, including iPad Pro , iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 5th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later. It's relatively easy to update your iOS device - all you need to do is head to the Settings menu, tap on General, Software Update, and the option to update should be on your screen.
