The case between Michael Realty & Associates and University Park ended Thursday with court approval of a $50,000 settlement agreement, according to court records and village Trustee Theo Brooks.
“It was best to just end it, just stop this nightmare. It went on and on,” Brooks said. “It’s one of those things where we’re cleaning up the past.”“The village made an effort to get this thing resolved and that’s what we did,” Garbis said. Brooks said Friday that CHW Management Group is no longer in charge of the golf course, and said the village manager and other village officials will manage the operation.
The Village Board is to consider Tuesday a contract with Deer Creek Golf Club in University Park to maintain the golf course, including cutting the grass and maintain sprinklers and sand pits, Brooks said. The contract agreement will be through the golf season and pay up to $75,000, he said.Brooks said the depositions in the Michael Realty & Associates lawsuit exposed the truth about the cost to operate the facility.
