A University of Utah law professor, who lives in Israel for half of the year and is currently there, is providing a firsthand account of the ongoing conflict.
Only a few Utahns have more experience in Israel then Amos Guiora, a law professor at the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney School of Law.“Listen, terrorism from Gaza has been a part of Israeli reality since, forever, right?” said Guiora on Monday from Israel. “Terrorism, yes, but infiltration like this over three days, never anything like this.”
He also served nearly two decades in the Israel Defense Forces while spending a lot of time in Gaza. He described the war going on in the region right now and noted the grim reality of where things stand.“In terms of resolution of the Gaza, Israel conflict, that’s not something that’s going to happen now, will it happen down the road, how far down the road, I don’t know,” said Guiora who also spent years negotiating among various groups regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
