Universal Music's new task force for inclusion and social justice has detailed its action plan - read the memo here

“Blackout Tuesday” may have been the day that the industry tasked itself with reflecting on ways that it can support the black community, but obviously it’s about much more than one day. The Task Force for Meaningful Change thatover the weekend has issued its call to action in the form of a memo from its co-chairs, UMG chief counsel Jeff Harleston, and Motown Records President Ethiopia Habtemariam.

On behalf of UMG’s family of labels and companies including Blue Note Records, Bravado, Capitol Music Group, Capitol Christian Music Group, Def Jam Records, Interscope Geffen A&M, Island Records, Motown, Republic Records, Universal Music Enterprises, Universal Music Latin,Nashville, Universal Music Publishing Group and Verve Label Group.

Black Girl Ventures, Black Lives Matter, Black Mental Health Alliance, Colin Kaepernick Foundation, Color Of Change, Equal Justice Initiative, National Association of Black Journalists, Silence the Shame, Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California, The Bail Project, and When We All Vote The Task Force is identifying priorities, but this will only work if everyone is actively and meaningfully engaged; and
