Wheels Up visionary founder Kenny Dichter wants to sell 'the private jet lifestyle' as he seeks to continue democratizing private air travel with its King Air 350 fleet and more jet sharing.
here in San Francisco, signals its objective to continue growing in the private aviation space, that might just be the beginning.
He told attendees at the confab, “If I said to a hundred people Wheels Up is going to fly everyone home for free on Wednesday, everybody would accept the offer. Humans are hard-wired to want to fly private a hundred percent. My belief and a vision for where Wheels Up is going we want to bring not just the private flying experience to everybody, but the private flying lifestyle to everybody.”
Dichter says, “When I look at the world, I see 7.5 billion private fliers who haven’t flown privately yet. If we end up in the hats and apparel business, and it’s a little jet instead of a horse and a mallet, I’ll take that too." In terms of expanding beyond just getting members where they go on private flights, its customers today can see real-time inventory of vacation partner Inspirato's luxury homes in a program it calls Hot Nights. Hot Flights is its discounted empty leg program for members.
In the meantime, he says, this week’s acquisition of Avianis will move forward his goal of “automating and digitizing the world’s private aviation assets.”
