The United States’ coronavirus vaccine rollout has faced a stubborn partisan divide, with vaccination rates in Republican-leaning counties lagging behind Democratic areas.

U.S. adults who cited the Trump administration as their top source for pandemic news last year had a lower Covid-19 vaccination rate than those who relied on media outlets or public health officials, thePresident Donald Trump delivers remarks about coronavirus vaccine development in the Rose Garden ofthe White House on May 15, 2020, flanked by White House coronavirus response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx and NIAID director Dr. Anthony Fauci.

The vaccination rate for people who relied on President Donald Trump and his Covid-19 task force in spring 2020 stood at 59% as of four weeks ago. All other groups polled in 2020 had vaccination rates above 70% by August of this year, including adults who relied on local news outlets , state and local officials , international news , public health agencies and national news .

Pew polled more than 10,000 Americans for its April 2020 and August 2021 surveys, and nearly 6,700 people responded to both polls.At the pandemic’s onset, Trump and his staffers often generated controversy during their on-camera briefings about the virus. Trump
