A double agent, dead drops and bundles of cash: U.S. alleges a California tour guide worked as a spy for the Chinese.
SAN FRANCISCO—A tour guide for Chinese visitors to California was actually working in the U.S. as a spy for Chinese intelligence, U.S. authorities alleged Monday as they unsealed a criminal complaint involving a double agent, dead drops and bundles of cash.
Naturalized U.S. citizen Peng Xuehua was arrested Friday and accused of acting as a courier to deliver classified U.S. national security information to officials working at China’s spy agency, the Ministry of State Security, U.S. officials said.
