Officials say the gunfire erupted at about noon on the 5900 block of Radecke Avenue in northeast Baltimore.
Two police officers were wounded while trying to arrest a suspect, who was killed in the fatal confrontation in Baltimore on Wednesday, authorities said.
Gunfire erupted at about noon in the 5900 block of Radecke Avenue, near Cedonia Avenue, about 6 miles northeast of downtown, Baltimore police said. "At that time, officers confronted the suspect, at which time gun shots were fired," according to a police statement."Two members of the task force were shot. The suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene."
The wounded police are"members of a joint federal-state-local task force — a Baltimore City police officer and a Baltimore County police officer" and they"were struck by gunfire during a warrant apprehension operation," according to a statement by Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan. The officers are members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and they were trying to arrest a suspect wanted for attempted murder, U.S. Marshals Service spokesman David Lutz said in a statement.
