WHO regional emergency director, Dr Rick Brennan says there's around 4,800 deaths recorded in government-held areas, and about 4,500 fatalities reported in rebel-held areas. 'These numbers will continue to increase, particularly as we get more access'

Updates from John Sparks and Yousra Elbagir in Kahramanmaras and Siobhan Robbins in Sanliurfa. Live reporting by Bhvishya Patel and Jess SharpAnother question is put to the panel, which asks what their main concerns are for earthquake survivors in Syria.

"They are not acceptable conditions, so we are working with partners to look at other options," he says. "There's no question, certainly on the side of Turkey, there's a matter of experience in terms of search and rescue, in terms of disaster response," Dr Ryan says. He adds that around 4,800 deaths and 2,500 injuries have been recorded in government-held areas so far, and about 4,500 fatalities and 7,500 injuries have been reported in rebel-held areas.

Remarkable footage showed the 46-year-old and his team in the southern province of Hatay, one of the worst-hit areas, carefully extracting a police officer and a woman who had been trapped in a collapsed multi-storey building for 120 hours. Engin Calar, who is originally from the southern Turkish city of Iskenderun and has been living in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, for 16 years, lost his brother's wife and two of their daughters in the earthquake on Monday.Mr Calar described enduring days of agonising waiting for news, and said he knew of friends from his home city who were still trapped under rubble.

"My mum and dad survived, I finally got the chance on Friday to speak to my dad and they are okay, but devastated at all those who have died." The White Helmets, a volunteer civil defence group, confirmed it had received the assistance, but warned there is a long road to recovery. The project will mainly support teams tying to save people trapped under rubble and retrieve bodies, Qatar said.

Asked how long the funds would last, he said:"We will prioritise over the next six months during the emergency phase. That means ensuring that people can survive. "This is no surprise both for Turkey and for Syria. And we've seen this kind of desperation happen in other countries and this is why it's important, of course, that the aid effort increases and scales up."It is"really important" that more corridors are opened to Syria to get humanitarian aid in, a charity boss has said.
