A doctor in an earthquake-stricken region of northern Syria describes the hospital he is working at as 'reminiscent of a warzone'
Dr Osama Sallom has been working at the Bab Al Hawa Hospital since early on Monday morningA doctor in an earthquake-stricken region of northern Syria described the hospital he was working at as"reminiscent of a warzone".
"Most of the patients are children who are bleeding and dying from the cold [after being stuck under debris]," Dr Sallom said. Dr Sallom said there is a"huge lack of staff and equipment" at the hospital and all the wards were occupied by patients, mainly women and children.

Powerful 7.8 Quake Knocks Down Buildings in Turkey, SyriaA 7.8 magnitude quake has knocked down multiple buildings in southeast Turkey and Syria and many casualties are feared. Ten deaths have been reported in Turkey so far. In northwest Syria, the opposition’s Syrian Civil Defense described the situation in the rebel-held region as “disastrous” adding that entire buildings have collapsed and people are trapped under the rubble. The civil defense urged people to evacuate buildings to gather in open areas. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centered about 20 miles from Gaziantep, a major city and provincial capital. It was felt in several provinces. The earthquake came as the Middle East is experiencing a snowstorm that is expected to continue until Thursday.
