Returning from the Fourth of July holiday weekend may some of the busiest travel days this year, giving TSA PreCheck members a slight advantage.

After you cough up the $78 fee to start, a membership is good for five years. That’s half a decade of breezing past the queue and keeping your shoes on as you pass through the security checkpoint. Nearly nine in 10 TSA PreCheck members said, according to a May 2023 survey by the agency.

With travel ramping up since the pandemic — the Fourth of July weekend is set to be one the busiest days for airline travel this year, including 52,564 flights nationwide scheduled on Thursday alone — the benefits of TSA PreCheck have become even clearer. Earlier this year, TSA announced it broke a membership record whenin February. There are now more than 15 million active TSA PreCheck users.

The busiest day to fly ahead of the July 4 holiday will be Thursday of next week. We’re forecasting a peak of 52,564 flights on June 29. Learn more and get helpful travel tips at
