Former President Donald Trump asked a crowd on Monday why so many immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border have cellphones.
“Weirdest thing ... they come in by the tens of thousands, sometimes by the day, and they all have cellphones. Trump continued his questioning while speaking to the rally audience,"Somebody who’s into that said, ‘Those are good phones,’ and then I say, ‘Who pays their bills?’” The leading Republican presidential candidate turned to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene , who was also at the event. “Do you want to check that?” Trump asked her. “I’ll give it to Marjorie. Last year, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement revealed that some immigrants are receiving cellphones with no ability to make calls or access internet but can track the immigrants via an app known as SmartLINK.
