The coronavirus-hit MS Zaandam, operated by Holland America Line, is at the centre of a dispute between U.S. officials after being denied entry from ports, while four people onboard have died.
Four people have died in the Holland America Line MS Zaandam, with two confirmed to have had COVID-19. The vessel is currently idle off the Central American coast after sailing through the Panama canal over the weekend, following permission from Panama’s government.
The ship’s plight has split state and federal actors on what should happen next, with President Donald Trump urging Florida officials to allow the ship to dock, in contrast to state governor Ron DeSantis, who on Monday said the ship could not dock in Florida, and that he would prefer to send medical help onto the ship instead.that DeSantis might not have the last word, and that officials from the CDC, Florida Health Authority, U.S.
