President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the U.S. and China were having a “little squabble” on trade
, talking up his own relationship with President Xi Jinping even as he said he was looking at more tariffs.Trump played down the trade rift between the U.S. and China, which has seen each side apply tariffs to the other’s goods, spooking equity markets. Stocks DJIA, +0.82% rose Tuesday, a day after Trump indicated it could take three to four weeks to determine success in talks.

Oil futures LCON9, -0.27% CLM9, -0.60% shot higher on Tuesday.
