When asked about consoling U.S. families, Trump mentioned his desire to see schools reopen as 'young people do extraordinarily well' after contracting the coronavirus.

During President Donald Trump's Tuesday coronavirus press briefing, Trump revealed that, apart from three or four families of friends and business associates, he hasn't yet called to console any American families who lost loved ones to the coronavirus epidemic.

"Mr. President, you've spoken about your friend who passed away," a reporter began during the press briefing."I was wondering if you've spoken to the families of anyone else who has lost loved ones to COVID-19 and if there are any particular stories that have affected you." "And it's a bad death," he continued,"It's not a—it's a bad thing. It grips on to some people. Now we found out that young people do extraordinarily well—that's why I think we can start thinking about schools. Of course, we're ending the school season, so, you know, you wouldn't be back for too long.""I notice where Purdue University, a great school in a great state, wants to open and have students come in," Trump continued.

Trump Accuses New York Of Padding State’s Mortality Rate By Including African American DeathsTrump Accuses New York Of Padding State’s Mortality Rate By Including African American DeathsWASHINGTON—Dismissing the statistics as “totally overblown,” President Donald Trump publicly accused New York health officials Monday of inflating the state’s Covid-19 mortality rate by including African Americans in their calculations of the total dead. “It’s very unfair if you start adding in a bunch of people who died of the virus but were also very clearly black,” said Trump, who pointed to Texas, with its incomplete data-gathering and low rates of testing in minority communities, as a model other states should emulate. “Obviously, if you count blacks, it’s going to throw off your estimates of how bad this thing is. We’re doing a fantastic job containing the virus, but sadly some governors are stooping so low as to fake their numbers—not only with blacks, but with people born in other countries, too. You gotta ask whether they’re just doing this to try and make me look bad.” The president went on to demand that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo personally apologize to him for harboring African Americans to begin with.
