President Trump urged the Federal Reserve to provide more stimulus to the economy by cutting rates and buying bonds

President Trump called for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates by 1 percentage point and resume its crisis-era bond-buying program to stimulate economic growth.

Mr. Trump issued a statement on Twitter Tuesday after Fed officials began a two-day policy meeting in Washington. Officials are expected to hold rates steady. In March, they unveiled plans to end the runoff of their $3.9 trillion asset portfolio later this year.
