A new tech tax has Trump vowing to wage war on French wine
in June urging Mnuchin to “consider all available tools under U.S. law to address” the “targeted, discriminatory” tech tax, including imposing a double U.S. tax rate on French corporations. France, for its part, has so far remained resolved to enforce the tax and not cave in to the U.S.'s pressure. “I deeply believe that between allies we can and must resolve our differences in ways other than with threats,” Finance Ministerin a speech to the French Senate.
Trump's Friday tweet and its praise of “our great American technology companies” also marked a rare example of the president seemingly backing the tech industry, whose largest companies have often come under fire from Trump for their perceived biases against him.
