One of Donald Trump’s most loyal grassroots activists is considering challenging incumbent state Rep. Matt Shaheen of Plano in next year’s GOP primary.
As the Senate trial to remove Paxton from office approaches, some Collin County Republicans are trying to recruit opponents for the local lawmakers who voted to impeach the embattled attorney general, who is also under indictment for securities fraud.
“There are players within Collin County that know who I am and feel as though I could bring a better representation to the district than perhaps we have today,” Richard said. “I do personally agree that I have a better capability to present and fight for the various principles and values that I believe the majority of citizens have in Collin County and District 66.
Richard said he’ll study the merits of mounting a campaign before making a final decision, including combing through Shaheen’s voting record.
