Driving the DayThe Trump administration reached a deal with 3M on Monday that will allow the Minnesota-based company to continue supplying N-95 masks to its customers in Canada and Latin America, just days after the White House invoked the Defense Production Act to stop those shipments.
The agreement also allows 3M to continue sending U.S.-produced respirators to Canada and Latin America, where 3M is the primary source of supply, the company said. The deal followed a number of phone calls between U.S. and Canadian officials over the past several days, Ontario Premier Doug Ford on Monday said he had a “positive” conversation with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on Sunday about the U.S. decision to halt 3M mask shipments north of the border.
