A Colorado truck driver got creative when trying to fix a broken tail light. He used a red sports drink bottle instead.
A Colorado truck driver got a little creative when it came to dealing with a broken tail light — and a local police department took notice.
Police in the town of Longmont, located around 38 miles outside of Denver, took to Facebook on Tuesday to share the humorous story. An officer had pulled over the driver, who had used duct tape to fasten a red sports drink bottle into the spot reserved for his tail light. “While we appreciate the ingenuity of this tail light, this is not a permanent solution. Working tail lights prevent accidents,” the Longmont Police Department wrote on Facebook.”If your tail lights are broken, please get them repaired.”According to Colorado law, on-road vehicles must show a red or amber light for their tail lights that can be seen at least 100 feet away in the sunlight.
A representative of the Longmont Fire, Police and OEM tells Yahoo Lifestyle that the driver was not cited for the poor choice. “The officer pulled over the driver and was told that he was on his way to get it fixed,” the department rep said. “He worked in the oil field and was in town on a varied schedule. As a result, the officer did not give him a ticket.
