Ben Torres/Special ContributorIf you head to East Dallas looking to grab some pork tacos or elote en vaso from Trompo, you’ll be sorely disappointed to find a locked door and cleared out building.at the end of last year, quietly closed its Gaston Avenue location earlier this month.
Owner Luis Olvera said the East Dallas spot is gone for good, but he’s actively working on Trompo’s brick-and-mortar future and hopes to have something in place by the end of the year. In the meantime, he’s operating Trompo“I want to make sure the next move I make is permanent, and not the kind of permanence that lands you six feet under,” he said.
Olvera plans to eventually open another dine-in restaurant where he can settle in for a while, serve up the tacos that put Trompo on the and have a bar program to go along with it. For now, though, customers have to get their Trompo fix through online orders for delivery or window pickup at the ghost kitchen.
