Changes are coming to the hockey world following the sudden death of a former Pittsburgh Penguin, Adam Johnson.The Western Hockey League announced that neck protection guards will be mandatory moving forward.Meanwhile in Central Pennsylvania, local parents and players are going over their options.
“We want him to be as safe as possible when he’s out there because it is a dangerous sport,” said hockey parent, Jeremy McNear. “It’s kind of where it was with the helmets, they got grandfathered in,” added McNear. “If you didn’t want to wear them, you didn’t have to, but now everyone wears them.”
