The state said it was 'disturbed' by the Trenton City Council for failing to advance funding and measures to help the situation.

Several state representatives and the Mercer County executive and county commissioners joined the mayors in specifically asking for the state Department of Environmental Protection to take “direct supervision and operation of Trenton Water Works ” due to years of failures.
