Back in May plus-size retailer TORRID launched #TeamTorrid, a virtual casting call created to find diverse plus-size women to be the faces of their Holiday 2021 campaign.

The plus-size retailer launched the initiative, titled #TeamTorrid, in May in hopes of finding diverse plus-size women who would become the faces of the end-of-year collection. The winners will come together in Los Angeles for the photo shoot this month.
Torrid decided to enlist Byer’s help to encourage the winners to “tap into their unstoppable selves,” says Torrid. During last month’s coaching session with the 10 winners, Byer shared confidence tips. Over 7,000 women entered the virtual casting call, which invited women to submit photos and a video addressing what “unstoppable” means to them. The company narrowed the pool of applicants down to 30 finalists, and the 10 winners were selected via public voting.
The campaign is part of the brand’s twentieth anniversary celebration, and, according to a Torrid statement, serves as a followup to the company’s tradition of finding models from their community.
