In addition to the heavy rainfall and flooding Thursday morning in Central Texas, a tornado was spotted in Caldwell County, as captured in a video As the heavy rain continues its slow eastward march, affecting particularly the southern and eastern Hill Country, I-35 corridor, and coastal plains, the tornado sighting adds an extra layer of urgency. The region has already been grappling with tropical rainfall rates exceeding 3” per hour, leading to accumulative rain totals surpassing 6” in certain spots, especially near I-35.
While the heaviest downpours have subsided in some areas, the ramifications continue with likely flooding scenarios projected to persist, albeit with a gradual improvement foreseen by mid-morning.
