, an unassuming, bumbling copper who, viewers thought, wouldn’t say boo to a goose. We wanted someone to despise, someone beyond redemption. Someone like Tommy Lee Royce.It’s not that Tommy has been drawn thinly, or from only one angle. Quite the opposite. Wainwright has done her best to present the classic nature vs nurture argument, giving us a glimpse into his chaotic, troubled upbringing with his drug-addled mother. But that doesn’t excuse the despicable, calculating man he’s become.
Who knows how it will play out? One thing’s for sure, Tommy Lee Royce is about to become public enemy number one once again. Let’s hope he gets his comeuppance once and for all.
