An already tumultuous season is teetering on disaster for the Titans. Here’s how we’re betting “Thursday Night Football.”
I desperately want to make the case for why the Titans are worth betting here as double-digit underdogs. I really do. But they’re making it harder to do by the day., which has lost five straight to fall below .500 for the first time since Week 3. This season reached a new low point with last week’s loss to the last-place Texans in arguably Malik Willis’ worst showing to date – throwing two interceptions and finishing with fewer than 100 passing yards for his third time in as many starts.
Here’s the issue: the Cowboys aren’t exactly a sure bet at this number. Yes, Dallas is a top-five team by virtually metric and boasts one of the best rosters in football, but it’s also struggled to pull away from its competition in recent weeks. All of that should give any bettor pause before laying the second-biggest number in the history of Thursday Night Football. If that sounds outlandish, consider the motivation: this game means virtually nothing to the Titans, whose playoff hopes rest almost entirely on next week’s game against the Jaguars that will decide the AFC South crown.
