.SenatorTimScott expressed optimism for the future of the nation during a speech at Heritage's 50th-anniversary summit, a week after indicating he was exploring a run for president. 'Get ready for another American sunrise,' Scott said.
The South Carolina senator, fresh off a successful reelection romp in 2022, announced last week that he was formally exploring a run for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. During his remarks at the Heritage Foundation's Leadership Summit, he struck a largely optimistic tone about the future even as he excoriated Democrats for enacting a"blueprint to ruin America.
The senator, who will be headed to Iowa this weekend for several campaign events, eschewed the podium used by other speakers at the event and instead wandered through the crowd as he spoke as if it were a town hall campaign event. Scott did not offer any criticisms of his potential 2024 rivals, instead imparting harsh words for President Joe Biden and Democratic politicians.
"It's almost as if they've created a blueprint for how to destroy America," Scott said."If there was [a] blueprint for how to destroy America, you start with patriotism, because when you start with patriotism, you're attacking the very foundation of the greatest nation on God's green Earth, the freest and fairest land the world has ever known."The South Carolina senator highlighted several policy issues during his 20-minute speech.
"We should be loyal to our friends and lethal to our adversaries," the senator said as he concluded."The next American sunrise means the strength of our leader is more important than the strength of [China's] leader. Today we are losing the battle because the weakness of the president of the United States is always more important than the strength of President Xi and China. Get ready for another American sunrise.
