TAIPÉI, Taiwán (AP) — Las autoridades meteorológicas de Taiwán advirtieron a los residentes de las intensas lluvias y los fuertes vientos que comenzarán a partir del miércoles mientras el tifón Saola bordea la costa sur de la isla en su camino hacia la costa sur de China.
El tifón avanza en dirección noroeste con vientos sostenidos de 162 kilómetros/hora y rachas de hasta 198 km/h , según la Oficina Meteorológica Central de Taiwán. El centro del meteoro no azotará la isla, pero se espera que sus bandas exteriores rocen las ciudades del sur.
La agencia meteorológica advirtió también el lunes en la noche que se esperan de grandes olas y marejadas que harán que los desplazamientos en barco sean peligrosos.En el este y el sur de Taiwán se esperan lluvias intensas entre el miércoles y el jueves. La agencia taiwanesa ha calificado la tormenta como un tifón de fuerza media y dijo que hay una ligera posibilidad de que gane fuerza.
