SNP councillor Jonathan McColl warned it could be 'an absolute disaster'.
Plans for three-weekly bin collections in West Dunbartonshire will go-ahead – despite warnings from a councillor that the impact would be ‘a public health risk.’
Current figures show that just 38 per cent of rubbish locally is recycled – a figure that has fallen since the Covid-19 pandemic. The Lomond member added: “Other areas have experienced significant issues. This move will cause a public nuisance and a public health risk.“If we do this before people are ready then it’ll be an absolute disaster.
He said: “It’s important that we get across a positive message about recycling and not a negative one. “It’s important to note that we’re not moving to three-weekly bin collections next week just because we’ve made this decision.
